Pulling punches isn't something you get from Daniel Negreanu. It's just not his style. His latest book is a handy companion to the game which proves to be invaluable even to the seasoned poker player. Although his track record in preceding efforts has been to occasionally involve friends and poker pros to pen tips, Negreanu flies solo in this one. Received well by the poker community, here is a book that is separated from its predecessors by more than just the word "more".

Written fluidly in four major sections, the author delivers an impressive fifty new concepts and strategies that promise to benefit you in both cash games and tournament play. With his likeable tag, Negreanu adopts a similarly affable tone with his writing style. Indeed when we're told he disagrees with "eight out of ten" TV poker commentators, you can almost see the wry smile etched on his face.

The book's opening salvo trains its crosshairs on Daniel's most successful tournament strategies which often leads to hefty cash pots we see on television. Whilst remaining succinct and eminently readable, it then moves on to how you should adapt your play according to the type of player you're pitted against.

It's not long until he holds court with a master class in advanced no limit hold 'em to really separate the men from the boys. Always treading the fine line between readability and jargon, "More Hold 'Em wisdom for all players" tackles playing garbage on the button; bluffing at paired flops; playing pocket kings; playing suited connectors; limping in with pocket aces and why pros hate playing ace-queen. Just when you're in mortal danger from a tidal wave of the soporific, he manages to bring it back from the brink.
