Poker Face 2
Ulvis Albert

4sportsbooks.co.uk price: £35.99

Is poker art? According to the wonderfully named Ulvis Albert it is and if you're in any doubt, get a hold of his fabulous Poker Face 2, the book's 25th Anniversary Edition.
It's a classic 'coffee-table' tome, which captures the emotions of people playing poker, most probably because the majority of photographs are in black and white, a feature which enhances the book's atmospheric feel.
The book was first published in 2006 and only 2,000 copies of the Collector's Edition (signed by Alberts and dedicated to his Latvian father.) exist. The original version, published in the early 1980s is so rare now that copies sell for $1,500.

It is undoubtedly designed to be part of poker history, with great emphasis on the legendary WSOP which it covers from its earliest days to modern times. It's a bit hefty to lug around in search of autographs, but with muscle and perseverance it could be done.

There are more than 300 photos in this masterpiece with great shots of poker greats such as Benny Binion, Doyle Brunson and Stu Ungar,
The clear, soulful photos take centre stage while the text, with hundreds of quotes, sayings and opinions from people such as Albert Einstein and, Somerset Maugham. A perfect gift.
